When writing fails you, you can always read and research.

I can’t say that writing has failed me so much as my writing hand has failed me. I had a bad fall on a hike a little less than two weeks ago and I’m still in a brace. I guess it was a good thing I finished my first draft when I did because it has meant that my recovery hasn’t been punctuated with the need to type.

While I can do most things in relative comfort now it still is rather uncomfortable to type. So, I’ve been reading a ton. It’s wonderful. I’ve downloaded at least three new books to read while we go camping for the 4th of July. I would only count one as a “literary” book, but the others are summer reads by authors I adore.

As for research, I might spend one more week preparing myself before I dive into the editing phase. I’m going to go through all my notes that I got during grad school and make a board that I can put up in my office to have as a reminder of all the things I need to stay on top of. (I just thought of the board thingy, and I really like that idea…)

Anyhow, I can’t really say that anything else exciting has happened because it truly hasn’t. Hurting your dominant arm is super annoying and I don’t suggest it. I’m just thankful I didn’t break it. My husband was convinced I had, but luckily I just messed up the soft tissue.

Next week I’ll post pics of my editing board to show you what I came up with šŸ™‚

For those celebrating, have happy 4th of July! Otherwise, have a good weekend šŸ™‚
